Know what you want - 2

Hi friends!
So, I guess you have tried planning out something in the past days. If you have, well and good. If you haven't yet, continue thinking and experimenting with new ideas. Really, until you reach 11th grade or so, you are free to experiment and decide upon the work that suits you best. According to some of my advisers, like elders and teachers, it's nice to experiment with ideas and thoughts, so that we have an experience of each of them, and then we can decide what's best for us. It's better not to be very rigid about your goal until 10th standard, as, till then, even if you become rigid, you can't choose your stream, or field of work. So, it's better to keep on trying innovative ideas: this will give you a lot of exposure to a variety of futures that you can pursue, and broaden your outlook. Then, you can very wisely choose what suits you and what you enjoy the most, and then, looking at future prospectives and potential returns of that work, you can decide upon your future.

Let me give an example. There was a man, say Blaze, who had decided by 9th grade that he wanted to be an engineer, as he enjoyed Mathematics, and a bit of Physics. So, he stood rigid on that, and continued studying. He got admission to a college for Engineering, passed out, and then got placed in an MNC. He was earning very well, and had most of the pleasures he could afford. Even then, there was something missing in his life. Something continuously pinched him, and reminded him that he was not living his life fully.

Some years later, a blast of realization came to him. He realized that what he wanted were not heavy paychecks and work for someone else's organisation. His real desire was to own a firm, and run it by himself, without being directed by anyone. That time, he could have used his engineering abilities to open a startup, but now, he was a responsible man. He was married and could not try out a risk as big as quitting his job to open a business. So, dissatisfied, he had no option but to continue with his job.

Do you want to be a story like this? I bet you don't want. Even though Blaze had money, he didn't have wealth. Wealth, meaning inner joy at his work, a big dream which keeps the spark burning in his heart, and motivates him to wake up every morning to strive for the ultimate target, that he wants to achieve. He lacks that wealth, and so he lacks that spark in life.

This is the lesson here. If you want to be successful, you must know what you want from life. You must know, what your ultimate desires are. And then, without fear, you must go for them. Living a life doing something you are not interested in, will lead to boredom. So, to avoid this, and to lead a fulfilling life, dream big and strive for it, to achieve big!

1. Know what you want

Hi.
So, here we are again. You all and I embark on a journey of thoughts, words and actions, directed by a steady flow of information. It's not like only I will be the one to express myself. You all must consider me like a friend, a companion, who's always ready to talk with you, discuss things with you. You must ideally forget that I'm anyone and my achievements.. after all, I'm just a friend trying to share some information, isn't it? Be comfortable, be yourself! Hey, keep this thing in your mind! :)

What did I just say? "be yourself", isn't it? Hey, that's what I'm going to tell you here! You read the heading...so, what did you think of it when you read it? It may sound a bit childish, but many young guns fail to realize this point. And when I say many, I mean it. I'm not insulting anyone... Almost all of us are uncertain about our future at this age, when we are in middle school. And this is probably not the best time to choose one's definite future (unless you are in 9th grade or above). What I'm saying is, just know what you want to achieve - have a goal, it may be very vague, but have one long term and a few short term goals. It's nice to decide upon a big long-term goal, then set up the steps that are required to achieve that goal, and then look for shorter goals and stepping stones to reach your destination.

For example, say, your goal is to become a mechanical engineer. When you have fixed it as your target, then look for the steps that you need to take in order to be where you want to be. If you think that passing out from IITs is what you really want in order to achieve that feat, then set it as a step for your ultimate target. Furthermore, set realistic short term goals for going through IITJEE, like, getting good ranks in competitive exams from a lower class itself, or, goals to prepare this much course in this much time, and others. This way, if you make a demanding, rewarding and realistic plan, it helps a lot as it keeps you motivated towards your target, and doesn't let you lose sight of your ultimate vision.

Keep in mind, right kind of planning is the first key towards success.

My Introduction

Hello.
This is Nishit Asnani, a student of Class 9, studying in Campion School, Bhopal. I am a very competitve lad, having achieved many tough feats in academics in a short span of six years. So, I thought that sharing my views on success in competitions and giving simple but useful advice to aspiring students would really be beneficial in the long run for all of us. So, I'm here, telling you about my ways and methods to succeed.

Now, you might ask, who am I to advise on something as important as competitive exams in Intermediate classes? For that, I may be very privileged to tell you that, I have secured All India Rank 1 in National Science Olympiad, AIR 3 in FTRE, International Rank 2 in international Mathematics Olympiad, AIR 11 in Technothlon, and I am also an NTSE Scholar. As you might have guessed, I am also a topper in my school consistently, year after year.

So, enough about me. So now you know who I am, and what I want to do. What are you waiting for? Just visit this and you'll find new tips from my past experiences about what to do and especially, what NOT to do. I'll be posting my views every week or so, and I hope you gain something substantial, by going through these little pieces of advice posted by me.
